Modernizing Existing Legacy Products For Vyne Medical

Vyne Medical provides centralized, healthcare-specific platforms to capture, automate, and manage interactions with patients, payers, and providers to transform raw data into actionable information while improving the financial performance and experiences of patients and staff.

Vyne Medical needed to be able to combine disparate sources of data into a single, more secure and integrated repository for a complete, searchable view of information surrounding the patient. C1 enabled Vyne Medical to modernize its existing legacy product by migrating technical workloads to AWS for the first time in its history. We used AWS to power the SaaS platform, Refyne, Vyne’s key revenue generator, to not only build a brand-new product but to accelerate their business growth and market expansion. Utilizing RDS, S3, and Cognito, Vyne was able to remain HIPAA compliant and have more secure access to medical information.

The Challenge of Navigating a Complex SaaS Platform

Healthcare data interoperability is hard, complex work. Knowing the time constraints, C1 needed Refyne to be fully integrated with third-party systems, including Medicare government systems, for it to work as intended. Vyne needed to turn its paper billing process into a digital one, modernizing the core of its business metrics. One of the top features necessary was self-service, which allowed for data to flow downstream to different departments.

 

In under 16 weeks, C1 designed, integrated, and tested Vyne’s new SaaS platform to make sure it is working and compliant with multiple third-party healthcare systems. The Refyne platform leverages Electronic Submission of Medical Documentation (esMD) to facilitate the electronic transmission of request and response data between hospitals and CMSs.

 

The Outcome

The Vyne leadership team was able to interact with the software as it was being built instead of only being shown the finished product at the end of the 16 weeks. This agile, bias-for-action approach allowed C1 to build trust with Vyne’s senior leadership and allowed for the ability to change course as the product was being built with minimal risk.

 

Vyne Medical has now begun migrating existing commercial claims data to the new system, with the goal of improving flexibility within the delivery team and expanding their esMD scope into release. We look forward to continuing phase 3 of this project.
